Will the economic problems in the US ever make a turn around?
Or have they begun to turn around already and I’m missing something?
In the new construction field–work is still very, very slow.
Have you seen any significant changes in your profession?
What are your thoughts on the future outlook of these problems?
It will take a long time, just like it took at least 8-10 years to get into this mess. I am stunned with disbelief that Americans have such a limited attention span that they think this this mess should be smoothed over to their personal satisfaction in a matter of months. Like an episode of The Cosby Show or something - all better by the end of the episode and moving on now to an episode of All In the Family.
No, my area of health care is preparing for huge medicaid cuts this january, and medicare cuts in 2011. And these cuts were decided on 3 years ago by congress and we were notified back then, so please no one blame Obama. My agency was part of the work group that was trying to advise congress, that was 5 years ago.
Reagan is responsible for deliberately promoting a culture of greed and over-extended credit in order to drive up spending and purchasing; Clinton is responsible for NAFTA, allowing all our tech jobs to go to India, and turning a blind eye to the WalMart/ China
marriage; and W is responsible for getting us head over heel in debt by invading a country that never did anything to us, just to prove his manhood to his dad.
I hear the violations and deletions knocking at my door already. My point is - this took decades to happen and will take years to correct.

it will take a long time for the us to recover, as they are not interdependent like they used to be. all of their extra resources support other nations, even when there are none left in america.. however the economy will recover, probly in a couple of years tho.

I think things are turning around. I have seen a significant change in the business we’re in but that has more to do with the new rules and regulations the government is implementing (good for us, bad for others). Homes in my neighborhood are finally starting to sell but unemployment is still a huge issue. I live in Central California where there are are some of the highest unemployment and home foreclosure rates in the U.S. One city in the Central Valley has an unemployment rate of 40%. Since it’s an agricultural town and water is scarce farmers haven’t been able to use their fields.
The Fresno County fair just ended last week. One day the cost of admission was 3 cans of food for the food bank. I’m proud to say it was the largest amount of donated food EVER received in one day in California. It will be put to good use, I’m sure.

I think this everyday
Today is as good as it will get.
The commercial real estate bubble hasnt popped yet
None of these jobs are coming back.
The mainstream media is run pretty much controlled by the same folks who brought you the Federal Reserve . They try to make things look like theyre ok..but if youre alive ..you know they are not !
You got to read online and study S & P charts. Tickers Oil Drum News around the world.
Shipping is at a standstill. Wall Street is up but running on fake money with no backing.
My job looks for bogus ways to get rid of the full time and now they only hire part time/ no benefits. This is a huge nationwide company too.
They like my work, so now instead of a co-worker I do two people jobs. Im worn out.
What can I do ? There are no jobs here at all.
I have 2 friends One has a masters ..working at Walmart. One has a doctorate ..working at Wendy’s. Degrees and Experience dont matter.
This is all about survival now, not careers.

if the dollar drops manufacturing here in the US may pick up again. I doubt that people will build bigger fancier homes, that trend has turned around and people are building on the conservative side again. Anything to do with saving energy and green jobs may do well.

Dick Morris just said this week that Mr.O has given up on the ability to lower the un employment numbers.
Dick M. was Clinton’s political adviser.
I do know my handyman in Wa. is so over worked he doesn’t do jobs he doesn’t want to.

I think the new construction field will remain slow for sometime as builder are leery of more money lost. At my job things are picking up some but nothing like a year ago. We will return to prosper. I remember in the 1980’s when so many people were out of work especially the bread winner of the family. It was frightening but it turned around. I figure that we will be seeing repeats of ups and downs every fifteen to twenty years. The downs, thank goodness don’t last that long.
