employer complains that I don’t turn around when he is talking to me?

Am I rude or is it ridiculous to have your computer facing a wall and have a boss that sits behind you and talks to you from his desk but expects you to stop and turn around to look at him??
No I do not enjoy talking to someones back and that is why I would never sit them facing a wall. I would want to see their face.

Generally it’s rude not to look at someone when they are speaking to u. But I don’t see why u can’t somehow have the desk moved to face him or turned to the side so u don’t have to swing ure head around all day. I’d tell him it’s awkward the way ure desk is positioned and see if u can have it moved sideways or completely around. If he just says no, then yes I’d say he’s a jerk.

It is rude not to look at anybody when they are talking to you. How would you feel if someone did that to you? Everyone that I know wants the courtesy of being looked at in the face when they are having a conversation.

Where do you work, sounds like a place I use to work at! Tell him to get over it and to kiss it. I hate when they think they run you just cause they are a supervisor!!! They don’t make much more money than we do! Screw them.

    Incredibly rude.

Please, don’t bite the hand that feeds you. We don’t need another person crying on Y! answers about being wrongfully let go because they had an attitude at work.

it would turn into a very unproductive day for you if you turned around to look at him every time he’s speaking especially if the conversation is casual. that would lead to an unsatisfactory performance review for you.

it is rude to keep your back to someone when being spoken to but, it’s equally wrong of him to complain about it if he’s just playing the "i’m the supervisor, gotta listen to me" card. he sounds like he might be ineffective at his job, stuck on his title, and an attention whore.

It’s not ridiculous. It’s called being mature and appropriate and RESPECTFUL.

I think that it is just that he wants to make sure that you have fully understood the instructions that he has told you. That is usually why bosses and supervisors would like you to look at them when they are talking to you.
