The Bankruptcy Process

Posted on March 17th, 2010 by admin in Services |

Once you’ve compiled a list of all your creditors and completed all the initial documentation, your attorney providing you bankruptcy service will file your bankruptcy petition in your county.

After the court accepts your petition, your creditors will meet with you. Some of them may even object to the petition and attempt to take you to court to recover the debt.

You will also be required to receive counseling. There will be a trustee assigned to your case who will oversee the filings to make sure the law is followed by both you and your creditors.

The entire process takes roughly 7 months from start to finish, but there are many factors that determine this and it could be longer or shorter that this for you.
