What Is The Glycemic Index?

There is a lot of talk about the glycemic index these days, but a lot of people don’t really know what it is. By fully understanding this measurement, you will be able to make smarter decisions regarding your diet and you’ll be able to lose weight faster.

The glycemic index is measurement about how fast your body metabolizes carbohydrates and converts them into glucose. The reason this is important is because the faster that happens, the more insulin will be released in your bloodstream and the more fat that will be packed on your body and the sooner you’ll become hungry.

Low glycemic index foods are great for you because they take longer to be absorbed in the body so your glucose levels never really spike. Because of that, not a lot of insulin is produced and you stay fuller longer. And a bonus is… usually these foods are very high in fiber so they help to clean your system out.

Foods that have a high glycemic index are all the white, processed carbs. Make sure you stay away from those because they do indeed make you fatter. So if you eliminate those and have some good exercises to lose weight with solid programs and support, you will be amazed at how fast you can change your body.
